RRoD repair question

Homerboy

Lifer
Just got the RRoD today it seems.
Will they do the repairs on a modded machine? I'm getting mixed feedback from varying sources.

I'm 99% sure that if you break the TOS (by modding or any other means), it's no longer under any MS warranty. I'm sure someone here can fill in that last percentage point, though.

Opening the casing at all voids any and every warranty. If I'm not mistaken, they can even refuse to repair it even if you're willing to pay for the repairs.

Supposedly some people have had luck having theirs repaired despite breaking the warranty seal. Microsoft is more lax considering that people who WERE out of warranty suddenly had their warranty extended. You ought to un-mod it (revert to standard DVD firmware?) before you send it in though.

That is what I heard too Mugs and what I am going for.
Worst case is they deny my repair and send it back to me.
