what else did you expect from a Gameworks title ? Shoddy, unoptimized, buggy and at times completely broken and unplayable. Thats Gameworks for you

Next time, talk about the game. This is not a Gameworks rant thread that you can just thread crap to your liking. It will never happen here.

Oh come on, don't bring that argument up already. I'd prefer it if this thread didn't devolve into a fanboy brawl (again).

Anyway, he says that even after disabling all NVidia effects the performance still sucked. I suspect it has more to do with the PC port being handled by an outside studio.

You know what's worse? PS4 looks better with rain effects not using GameWorks.

Compare, GameWorks rain on PC vs PS4 rain:

http://bbs2.ruliweb.daum.net/gaia/d...ad?articleId=1765314&bbsId=G003&itemGroupId=1

Worse looking, non interactive and tanks FPS hard. WTFBBQ.

Imagine being the software engineer on this title, you implement such awesome effects that runs great, then marketing tells you to use GameWorks instead for the PC version!

Yet another "AAA" title that I will meet in the bargain bin..

ps. I don't blame NV/GameWorks, I blame incompetent devs. Why? Cos Rockstar and PRed show they can make amazing PC versions of their cross-platform GTAV/Witcher 3.

pss. NV users on Steam are reporting that forcing GPU PhysX boost their performance a lot, so it seems CPU bottleneck by running too much PhysX/Apex on the CPU like in Project Cars.

This forum enjoys nothing more than noshing itself off over anything gameworks related.

On topic: Is this the same game that caps the FPS at 30?

30fps caps? Ewww.

It really just looks like a lazy console port with all the issues it brings. Would be interesting to see CPU utilization.

In the old days it was quite normal for the publisher to do the final compile. A good example is Skyrim without SSE support. Simply due to not knowing better. I could imagine PhysX being set to 1 core as well by the publisher.

30 FPS...no excuse. But we all know why. Either its locked to the engine or its due to not wanting to put consoles in a bad light.

This, unfortunately, seems to be the standard for pc games now. =[

No way.

GTA V and Witcher 3 are amazing cross-platform titles. How it ought to be made, great console version, superior PC version.

Looking forward to Fallout 4 & Battlefront. I have more respect for Bethesda & DICE than Rocksteady/WB and Ubifail.

it works "fine" for the most part with uncapped fps, provided you don't get issues in the first place. the fps cap is a bit of a mystery, but it's also the least of their problems, given that you can uncap it yourself already (but they should patch in an in-game setting to uncap it, come on).

Even more fun. People with the box edition says its on 5 DVDs. It installs 7.7GB and download rest from steam. What the o_O?

People with 8GB of memory is also running out and crashes to destop with Windows memory warnings.

FPS cap may be because they know they have framerate consistency problems. Capping to 30fps can let the CPU "breathe", and reduce stuttering.

But yeah, it clearly should have been an in game setting.

Any publicity is good publicity, reckon that's true?

Batman AK just made it #1 front page Reddit:

exactly. gameworks suck big time. It deserves to die. It doesn't matter if this is a bad port or caused by gameworks. True or not, I want gameworks to be associated with the bugs, crashes, and poor performance. It deserves that bad stigma because I believe it is bad for gamers. I mean, seriously, just take a look at all of the Gameworks title that were released. All buggy, laggy, and poorly optimized for all platform.

Well, if nothing else it's a better port than Arkham City was, simply by virtue of using Steam rather than that ungodly copy protection system that City used.

But yeah, glad I got it for free with my GF970 instead of actually shelling out for it. And based on this, I'm also glad that it wasn't the only free game I got (Witcher 3 was the other one).

Compared to previous batman games this game is awful from an optimization standpoint. Others needed no patch to function well, this release is a straight up mess. Splurging on top end graphics cards are starting to make little sense when quite a few of these ports tanks performance or require a lot of fiddling to make the game work well even at its lowest settings. This trend makes it even worse for pc games going forward. While I might be inclined to say its a gameworks problem, some of these developers need to optimize their game's better even if they are favoring certain features of AMD and or nvidia.

Also in light of this I wonder how AMD's 4GB will fair in newer games as it seems developers are not really allocating enough resources to do pc games justice. In other words without serious under the hood work from AMD alot of these games might not play well with 4GB and under at high res regardless of new memory tech or not.

Apparently its got Denuvo DRM too, undisclosed!
