What is a normal RPM rating for CPU fans?

My CPU fans run at 4600 rpm and I don't know if that is low or not.

I have 2 fans attached to a large heat sink on a Thunderbird 900 Slot-A and have stability issues. But after my computer freezes, I touch the heatsink and the CPU and it is not even hot..just midly warm..

Thanks,
Pio

there's no normal rpm for cpu fans as speeds vary according to individual fans. some run in the low 4000s while others run at almost 7000 rpm!
monitoring is really there to warn you if your fan falls below a certain threshold, endangering your cpu.

The 2 small 40mm fans on the GlobalWin VGS08H that I have on my slot P3 both run@~6500 RPM

FAN RPM isn't the only factor, the number of blades, the angle/curve, the surface area of the blades, etc all affect how the air moves away from the fan. Most decent fans have a CFM rating which is the cubic/feet per minute of air moved. That is a good way to compare.

On top of all that the heatsink has a bunch of variables as well. Best bet is to look into the reviews in various places that compare heatsink/fan combos.

This one is for socket heatsink/fans but will give you a good basis for comparison:

Hehehe. My fans spin at 1800 RPM and move 27 CFM. Of course, they are 80mm using an adapter to fit on a 60mm Alpha P3125.
