I've played all the the final fantasy's (that were released in the states) and loved all but 12. I really dig the battle systems aswell as the worlds. Are there any others out there in the same class?

Mind you I've been playing Wiz 8, Diablo 2, Vampire the Masquerade, I of the Dragon, and Deciples :Rise of the Elves, Myth: Uru in the last month and looking for something more.

What are some of the best RPG's you've played?

BGT1/2/ToB, Planescape:Torment, and NWN are some must plays. IWD 1 and 2 is you like a more combat oriented game.

Everquest? I guess it's classified a RPG, but not everybody choses to roleplay. There's an endless amount of content to absorb. And it's pretty fun still. Long as you don't mind having to play online, you'd might get into it (perhaps too much =P) if you checked it out.

Yes, IWD1/2 are classified as hack and slash RPGs. However, in IWD you have control of party of 6 characters. The battles are much more strategic than the click fest in Diablo 2.

MMOs are theoretically the ultimate RPGs. EQ is currently the best.

Loot, quests, monsters, adventure, character advancement. There's nothing more and EQ has them all in spades.

On a single player note, the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale games are fun and huge but only on par with Diablo 2 graphically, if you care about that. Morrowind was fun for a while, but I became terminally bored roughly 2/3 of the way through. KotOR was alright, nothing particularly special IMO but lots loved it. I enjoyed the might and magic games immensely, namely MM6 and 7. They are very open, party based, plenty of loot and spells and a good number of quests. To be honest i'd play 6 again if I hadn't already played through it 2-3 times :) Be warned that the Might and Magic series is old school! Ultima 7: Serpent Isle was crazy too, though I could never get very far. Extremely open ended and again old school. Come to think of it, IMO it has been a while since an excellent RPG has been released, though i'm sure I haven't played all of em; not I of the Dragon or Wiz 8 certainly, though I did play Wizards and Warriors which gets a 7/10 from me - dozens of hours into it but never completed. IIRC the last RPG I actually completed was Icewind Dale 1 back in 2001, heh heh. Hmm, or maybe Dungeon Siege early '02 (5/10 single 6/10 multi)
