Royals sign Juan Gonzalez!

This seems like the exact opposite of what the Royals usually do. Normally they don't spend any money on free agents or on retaining their own players, they just use young guys and let them go when their price is too high (e.g. Johnny Damon, Jermain Dye). This certainly is interesting.

Its because the Royals made a crapload of money last year, which is very unusual. When they started out strong, they sold alot more tickets, and made quite a bit of $$$.

He still can put up some offense, .900 OPS last year. He also has a 2-yr streak of half-seasons.

Heh heh, the contract has a ridiculous amount of bonuses for getting plate appearances of at least 400, 425, 450, 475, 500, 550, and 575. It'll be interesting to see if the Royals' gamble pays off.

?????

Didin't he bitch about how cavernous New Tigers Stadium was??? And now he's going to Kaufmann Field??

It really sucks when these guys forget what their own complaints were...

In response to Gonzalez sucks:

How many current players on the Royals roster have mvps?

My quesiton is, why the heck wouldnt he accept a trade to a contender before and now he signs with the Royals?

Hey now...the Royals were contenders last year, before all their injuries.

Its not the decision to go to the royals that has me confused. Its the fact that he wouldnt take a trade cuz he didnt want to leave texas, then signs with KC. Like Blake said, these guys complain about one thing then do another. They wont leave where they are if it doesnt pay more.

He played in Detroit and Arlington (basically Dallas) for god knows how many years...if he doesn't like big cities then he's been playing for all the wrong teams for a LOOOOOOONG time.
