Too bad you weren't playing Caribbean Stud poker! Can you say... JACKPOT!

Way to go, the odds of hitting a royal flush are like the odds of getting struck by lightning!

My fifth one. ;) You're expected to get one about every 40K hands or so. I dont know how many I've played but Im probably doing much better than the odds predict.

I was playing a 4 hand JOB $5/pop, $1.25/hand (x4). Had put $100 in and had wagered about $100 (down $50) when a A,K was dealt in spades. 3 hands didnt hit at all, but the 4th one did.

Online, actually. ;) One of these days I'll head out to vegas. So far I've only been to a couple casinos in detroit/windsor, and the boats in chicago.

are you related to luckster?

I am luckster, mods changed my name about 3-4 months ago.

Wow..I guess the online casinos actually do work. Two questions, which online site did you play at and how do they verify your age to play? I'm 20 but itching to gamble :D

I never thought you could trust an online casino - it seems a little too shady for me....

<< So what exactly is the probability of getting a royal flush? >>

(4/52) * (1/51) * (1/50) * (1/49) * (1/48) = 1/77968800 or 1.283 * 10^-8

congrats lucky!

Odds of being dealt a royal flush from a single deck of cards is about 1 in 650,000 hands. Drawing to one is less and the odds in video poker depend on that machine's "rules".

as per mathword.wolfram.com

Wouldnt it be more like (20/52) [because you can get anyone of the 20 cards that run Ace-10 in any of the suits] * (4/51) [any of the other 4 cards in your suit that run A through 10] * (3/50) * (2/49) * (1/48)?

POC: A royal flush is when you get 10,J,Q,K,A all of one suit?

If thats the case then Ameesh is right...

You have 4 10's to choose from. Then you only have one J,Q,K,A of the same suit to choose from.
