Royal Camera?

I was on the Hot Deals forums and noticed a deal involving a pricematch with a website called Royal Camera.com and people were saying how they sell greymarket crroklyn style items. Is this true because they have really cheap prices....

I don't think they are that kind of store....they've been around for a long time. If you pick up a issue of shutterbug you will see one of their ads. I doubt shutterbug would publish and add of a shady company. I was going to buy a camera from them until I found a better deal.

What was the deal for?

Well I am thinking of buying a Nikon Coolpix 885 from them and they have it for $449.99 and that is about $30 cheaper than any other store so I was wondering how they can sell it so cheap. So I jsut called up and asked if it was the retail version that came with everything and they said yes. The strange thing was that they said it came with a batery charger and rechargable lithium ion battery which are sold seperately....

For some reason when it comes to camera equiptment, the prices are all over the place. I bough my canon elan 7 for $50 than I could find anywhere else. It had a USA warranty and came in the retail box, unopened. The camera works fine and I couldn't be happier.

Royalcamera has been around for a long time and I've heard that they are a very respectable company. All you've done is find a good deal.

well resellerratings has them at a rating of 0/7. i'd stay away if i were you. this might be one of those places in nj that gives a hard sale and attitude because you don't want to buy that $150 extra battery.

After reading their reseller ratings, I am gonna stay FAR away form them. Go there and read for yourself. Btw, when I tried to order the camera just to see what happened, I was gonna be charged $50 for ground shipping.

yeah that's how a lot of these NJ stores try to get you. If you call them, they'll give you another price for shipping. If you order them, they'll call you back to confirm and try to sell you something else and when you refuse, they'll give you a hard time.

Then like others say, beware of grey market merchandise. you won't be covered under warranty.

If you buy from royalcamera.com you'll be "royally" screwed. You may not get what you wanted or in a timely manner. Take your money to bhphoto.com and spend it there. They'll treat you right and I'm always a returning customer. Another thing is don't let the cheap prices fool you. They do that in order to bait you and then reel you in much like fishing.
