Roxio Platinum issue with Win XP.

I have run Roxio Platinum with success in making data cds but not so great in making music cds. My burner would tend to spit the cd out after only a few tracks were written.
A friend suggested that I try the free 90 day trial version from Roxio and it works fine. So what is making the difference?
Also I noticed in another newsgroup that some folks are saying that Roxio works best when installed without the 5.02b update but with the XP update.
Any thoughts anyone??
Thx

I've installed it following the instruction provided by Roxio (install 5, reboot & apply XP patch, then reboot & apply the 5.02b patch, then reboot & apply XP patch again - this instruction was modified from the original one - previously they recommended not rebooting before applying the XP patch). In any event, it appears that Roxio is working fine (I just burnt 2 audio cds without any problems). However, it also appears that Nero is much more stable (or compatible) for a larger number of XP users. I have installed both Nero & Roxio, but most of the time, I use Nero for non-audio cds that require no cd labels (I use Roxio for audio cds 'cause I'm more familiar with it's cd label software).

I use MusicMatch Jukebox for burning audio cds. I find it works better than ezcd5.

AFAIK the trial version of Ezcd is 5.1, so it already includes patches and updates for XP.
