I want internet access to a loft room, but my telephone company says they cant install another phone line in the loft room because households are only allowed 1 broadband connection. So i have to router the broadband/cable connection from my internet access on the 1st floor to the loft room via a wireless cable router as i dont want to put a wire from 1 room to the other. What i want to know is, does putting this router up for 2 comps to share cable - 2mega bit connection slow down the access speed for either comps? even if 1 of the comps isnt running.

No, it wont slow it down at all. You have the right idea. An 802.11/a/b/g router is what you want. The NAT firewall is also a good idea for security as well.

Never used that one, but it looks fine. This stuff works @ 2.4 GHz as does your cordless phone and microwave oven.
