Initially I was going to ask whether DisplayPort over Ethernet is a thing, but it just occurred to me that Mini DisplayPort exists and is probably a lot less problematic. Does anyone here have any experience with running a setup like:

Monitor with DisplayPort socket -> DisplayPort Male to Mini DisplayPort (cable? They appear to exist at the length I need) -> Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter -> PC

The 'cramped environment' makes routing the fairly chunky standard DisplayPort plug problematic.

I'm sure that would work if you go with reputable brands, but what about using either angled DP adapters or just angled DP cables?

My only concern with going from DP to miniDP (and back) would be that I personally have never been too impressed with miniDP's socket strength (as in how well it stays in place in the port).

I'm guessing you aren't lucky enough to have a mini DisplayPort on the monitor side? (Just thinking of 2 of my Dell monitors - they have a 1x DisplayPort input and 1x Mini DisplayPort input, and conveniently came with a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable)
