routers with print servers - any issues?

I remember reading about routers with print servers and not all printers where compatible. Is this true of newer ones from netgear or linksys?

I need a wireless router with 4 port switch and print server, any recommendations?

I have one of those $50 Samsung laser printers if it makes a difference.

The easiest thing to do is to setup the laser with a PCL driver if it supports it. Then it should work with most anything.

Jim, I have looked at a lot of SOHO print servers and routers with print servers, and they all suck. I would set your expectations low. Low performance is a particular problem in this class.

The HP JetDirect is very expensive but works.

My experience as well.

Therefore, I usually suggest to people to buy a network capable Printer. There are decent printers that are Network capable starting at about $150.

However if you already have a printer, do not buy a router with a printer server since you would be force to select from very few products and you reduce you flexibility. Buy the Router of your choice and a stand-alone printer server. If the Server does not work, return it.
