I currently have a Linksys 4-port cable/dsl router, whose web interface only allows 10 slots for port fowarding. It's really tight now and I have to constantly shift things around as I use different applications. Is there any solution to this?

If you have opened single ports that are close in numbers value you can save enteries by collapsing them into ranges.

E.g. 3000, and 3010, and 3020, might use three slots.

3000-3020 would use only one slot. The bigger the range the less secure it gets but you can compensate with Firewall Software.

or get a more robust firewall such as astaro (home license is free)

That's my suggestion. Bump up to a higher end product.
