Router with wierd problem. HELP...!

hey guys...

This is really wierd. I have a Netgear MR814v2 router, and I have two machines hooked up to my cable modem through it. Everything was working fine for about 2 months. Now, Internet Explorer on the promary machine will not connect to the internet. The second machine DOES connect, and everything works.

Now, the wierd part is that I CAN ping an outside IP address from the 1st machine, I can access the router settings and I can access files on the secondary machine . I can also run P2P software on the primary without a problem.

Can someone PLEASE help?

ok... I have the ipconfig for both machines here....

Does anyone know what is happening? I really do need some help here...

The router is set to assign DNS automatically... I suppose I could try though...

BTW, I booted into Win2000 on that machine, and Iexplorer works...

Try reflashing the bios on the router. I had a similar problem with a wireless router and flashing the bios fixed it. Just a suggestion.

well, I got it fixed. Looks like something was messing with the TCP/IP settings on my XP install... dunno what did it though.

I have one of these routers, and i must tell you it is junk. Using Bittorrent or any program uploading large amounts of data cause the router to just stop working. I turned the router into a pure Access point and used my old linksys BR41 to route and My speeds went up and problems went away.

I did echange the netgear once and had the same issue with both.

It explains to me why they are soooooo cheap

For future reference if you're more specific then "Now, Internet Explorer on the promary machine will not connect to the internet. " you'll likely get quicker and more to the point answers. (ie: Next time tell us how it isn't working >> error? timeout? continually hunting for proxy settings? etc)
