Router with USB storage on network ability

Hello folks,

I have old Asus WL-520GU router, as it is, not Toamtoed or DD-WRTed. So far I am unable to figure out if the USB port can be used for attaching external HDD so that I can stream music over home network. If I manage to find right Tomato firmware, I will give it a try. (The stuff on their website is pretty confusing to me at the moment)

I do plan to buy a new router during holiday season. I have basic 15mbps down and 5 mbps up internet connection. One of my requirement for this new router will be, to be able to attach USB storage to stream music.

Googling gave me few results
- WD My Net N900 Central
- Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router EA4500
- D-Link DIR-857 HD Media Router 3000
- Asus RT-N66U Dark Knight Double 450Mbps N Router
- Netgear WNDR3800
Looks like this is best of the crop.

Does anyone have other suggestion on cheaper price range? I will be very happy if it can work out of the box. I am not at all geeky enough to be able to install Tomato or something like it. I have to read up a ton before I do something like that.

Thanks in advance.

This router... the Amped Wireless R20000G Has USB storage and HARDCORE COVERAGE!

I have the access point version of this and the coverage is HARDCORE!

also the USB sharing works with USB thumbdrives as well as external HDDs with no problems at all! I used an IOSafe Fireproof USB HDD as well as a 16GB Sandisk Cruizer with my AP20000G and it worked instantly and smoothly!

as far as your streaming, proceed as you would from your media player... consult thier sites for info how to do streaming from there...

also you can mount to a network drive to make that easier...
