I host my website(still under construction) on my home computer. I use a belkin dsl/cable 4 port router. I have all my wins and dns setting correct(I think). If you are in front of the router, you can go there just fine. My problem lies in my viewing the pages from the web. I completed a trace route and it seems to terminate in one step at the router. I call Belkin Tech and they say its because I dont have a static IP. I say thats bull or else how could everyone else see it but me! Any idea's? I new with this, so, ask and I will provide the needed information.

Thanks

1.) Why do you have WINS setup? :)

2.) Your ISP could be blocking port 80 type traffic.

3.) Are you trying to access your site via IP or domain name? If domain name, do you have a dynamic DNS updater running, since you do not have a static IP.

4.) You obviously have port 80 forwarded to the IP of your web server?

5.) A traceroute could come up short due to ICMP traffic filtering by routers in your ISP or your ISP's backbone network.

PM me your sites address and I might be able to give a bit more information, or post it here.

Good luck!

maybe its not a router problem... trying cleaning out all of your web cache and see if that helps...

1. Looks like I made false statement. I do not have my WINS setup.

2. ISP Bloocking port 80. I dont think so, it worked before I installed the router.

3. I have tried using the IP and domain name, no luck. I can access it with the local assigned IP. I do use a dynamic DNS updater and have selected the proper IP address.

4. Yes.

5. What is ICMP? The tracert works fine for other domains but when it comes to www.myrulz.com it still falls short at the router.

Also, the cache idea, I did that a couple of time. I keep my cache to 1MB so there isnt much to it.

One last Q, Does the MyRig work on my signature block?

If that is your site, yah it loads up fine here. XP IIS 5.1. Please make sure it is all patched up!

These can be filtered by routers, typically for security concerns. Anyway, this is not the case.

Load OK now? What did you do? Works find here.

This is the way All Entry Level Routers work.

You can not initiate from the Web. Internet connection has to be initiate from your LAN.

You can go around it:

1. Set the Web server on static ports, and open the ports through the Firewall. (Risky)

2. Put the Computer with the site on the DMZ. (Extremely risky)

Or you can get a Web service for $19.95 per year.
