Router to switch...Help Please....

I have a problem. I have a Linksys 4 Port Router[befsr41]. There is a uplink port and the manual says its for switches and hubs. I am adding a switch to my network for expanding the number of computers. Would I go uplink(router) to uplink(switch)? That doesnt sound like it would work, unless I used a crossover cable or something. Please let me know ASAP.
