Router that divides bandwidth????

Hey guys.. i have a ..question. Is there a dsl modedm/ 4-port router out there that allows u to configure how much bandwidth is allocate to each port( hence each pc). And be done in such a way as to always divide the available band to the predefined ratio!

Sorry to contradict you (even though I did say in another thread that you are one of the educated people I respect ) but the hacked Linksys routers can't do bandwidth ratiosjust QoS, . I think that a Smoothwall would be a good way to go instead.

Assuming that on a port there is actually a computer with an IP, With a little imagination it might be possible to organize the system's bandwidth. :beer:

Unfortunately their documentation is very outdated. That is for Satori 2.0 and the current version are Satori 4.0 (in which Bandwidth Management doesn't work) and Alchemy 5.3.

This is what we have for Alchemy 5.3. You could set the Max Rate on all the wired connections and have it apply the QoS to the WAN port for this to work.

so there isnt a router i could get for a home network that will allow me to log on to router and set the badnwidth from there and it will keep that even when pc is off!
aim is to have a dsl shared between 4 pc but each one gettin different bandwidth! with the only thing in operation 24/7 the router!!!

I just realized how you could make this happen this morning. If you look back at that QoS page you can set the "Max Rate" on the wired connections. As long as you have the rules applied to the WAN port then you could set the maximum connection speed to 750Kbps if you have a 3Mbps connection. This won't work so well if you want to restrict Upload speeds.
