Router Slowing me down?

I have a BEFSR41 Linksys router (it's wired). When I was using the router my download speed was around 7-8MB/s. When I plugged my cable modem directly into my computer I got 13-15MB/s.

So, will getting a newer router speed up those speeds? And if so can you suggest a good Linksys WIRED router.

EDIT: I was thinking this router:

What do you think?

for those types of speeds, i would suggest a monowall or ipcop / smoothwall firewall, and dump the router altogether.
most of those routers, even the newer ones, are suspect on connections over 10Mbps, especially since they have only 10mbs ethernet (most of them) although the one you linked is 100mbps

13-15MB/sec. download, that is a 150Mb/sec. conncetion????

The Router in your link is a good Router, it is a little expensive because it is a VPN End Point. If you do need VPN End Point, it is a very good choice.

:sun:

i still say go for a linux based firewall distro. then you can do whatever you want....and don't forget built in traffic graphs (very sweet)
