Router & security questions.

Alright i'm running Zone Alarm on my pc. Thinking of checking out some other free ones, however ZA has served my purpose and seems pretty easy to use. I also heard it's a good idea to enable the router firewall. Under the router firewall settings I can enable port filtering and port mapping. Should I enable both of those? What's the add feature for adding ip's for? Under Access control I have MAC access limit enabled and MAC access mode allow. So only the MAC addresses I enter of the devices I own will have access to the network. Then for WIFI settings I renamed the SSID and changed the channel to 7 and enabled WEP 128bit key. I did a pass phrase and entered random lower and upper case letters and numbers and clicked generate and used key 3. This is an older B router so it doesn't have WPA. It's a Uniden WNR2004. Can I use any custom firmware like DD-WRT: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page will this work with my router and should I use it?
Also have wifi broadcasting off. I live out in the woods. I also changed the admin login and password of course.

I just followed mechBgon's guide for setting up limited user account and Software Restriction Policy for added layers of protection. Thanks mechBgon.

I haven't had any major computer problems in a lonnnng time. Use Avast for virus protection and Spyware Blaster and SpyBot Search & Destroys immune feature to keep spyware from getting on my system in the first place. Also Adware and Superantispyware but they never find anything. Use firefox.

So any tricks or tips or advice?
