I've never heard of that "Luma" router. What brand makes that one? Is that some sort of British or Australian model?
In the USA, I'm a big fan of Asus routers, and TP-Link Archer C7 and C9 get great reviews, although I've not used one.
I'm running an Asus AC68R (same hardware as AC68U) running Tomato firmware.

I've been happy with my Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X. I am NOT a networking guy and it was pretty easy to setup. I coupled it with the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR access point(fancy way of saying wifi) and both have been really reliable. So far my current up time on my router is a little over two month and the only reason it's not longer is because I had to kill the power to the upstairs to repair an electrical outlet.
It only has five ports though so that can be a draw back. I only have around 15 devices connected to it either wired or wifi at any given time though and none of the are being used simultaneously.

If you really need more ports they have the larger ER-8 or ER-Pro, or the Unifi Switch 16, or Unifi Switch 24/48. Or if you need 10Gbps the Unifi Switch 16 XG is available as well.

Management can only be done via smartphone APP. Can't be managed from a PC. There are no QoS, Firewall, or Port Forwarding settings.
Wow, that's useless.

Sounds like a piece-o-carp to me.
There is only six vendors (Intel, Realtek, and the like) that make Wireless Chipset.
All Manufacturers of Wireless Routers APs etc. buy from one of the 5 OEMs “dress” the final product according to their own Marketing “ideas”. Marketing is Not Technology,
(e.g.) putting 6 flimsy pieces of plastics (so called Antennae) on the Fancy Plastic box does not really provides better Wireless performance.
The rating of the Wireless hardware is the Inner running frequencies of the Chipset, there is a low correlation between the inner frequency of the units and there actual in vivo inner performance. I.e., AC1900 is not Automatically better than AC1700.
In addition I came once across a very interesting setting.
Two brothers in Long Island NY bought the two units in one of the places that makes Town Houses that are made of semi attached identical Units. One of the brothers is an IT and he installed identical WIFI in both identical houses.
His WIFI works OK the other was problematic.
Turned out that the other brother is a “Fish Lover” and had a huge installation of Aquariums and attached electronic gadgets involving their maintenance in his living room. Short of getting rid of the Aquariums a CAT 6 with additional AP was installed past the Aquariums and everything was Good.
In other words when people recommend something that work for them it is Not necessarily would work for someone else.
The only thing that would always work is a Nice Network of Aps installed according to a Signal survey. Which actually is the base of WIFI technology as oppose to what happened when the marketing departments took over the Industry.

The reason why i asked questions first and not just pop out routers is because of exactly what jack said.
There is no super router that is a one fix all solution.
1. The TPLink is a great router, i have one, however its not stable when u start hammering it with torrents.
It will need constant reboots, and its still consumer grade.
2. The EdgeRouter is one of my favorates, however it lacks almsot everything.
it has a shortage of ports. Its 5 ports where one needs to be WAN, leaving u with 4 ports.
If thats enough ports its fine, however if you need more, you need to purchase a switch.
It has has 0 wifi, and the inital setup is not really plug and play.
You need to go into network properties, manually assign an IP and run the wizzard first, before DHCP can kick it and take over the rest.
Although its not difficult and there are a lot of youtube videos demonstration how to do this, its still not a "lemme plug this in and have it work out of the box router." It was never advertised that way to begin with.
It also lacks WiFi if your looking for that, which means u need to sacrifice one of the 4 ports left on the router for a Access Point.
Dlink / Linksys 3200AC super routers!.... to me is all garbage. Yeah they look awesome and like an exotic sports car, however the price paid for one of those high end units, you can get a full ubiquiti setup and go bottom tier enterprise.
So you buy something based on your needs, and not based on reviews as jack said.

You probably are right. I did not do anything (as a Mod.) because I did not want to stop the flow of the Thread and actually this Luma makes the point.

I do not know if it is Good or bad, the whole point that some of us try to make here that there is No simple "Magical" solution to WIFI (unless is used in small two rooms Apartment)..

Larry to be honest i know you have decent knowledge in OS and software so you should be building your own router.
Seriously, once u build one, you can never go back to commercial unless its for someone else or u want something very dumb'd down for the user.
A very low voltage i3, or pentium G, like one of those 35W, with 4-8Gigs of Ram, with a ITX board and a intel nic.

Then install Pfsense on that system and go from there.
That is a super router... You just need a switch to finish it off.

The stock CellSpot one actually. I didn't feel like going through the trouble to flash it. My folks have one running Merlin I set up for them, runs great for them.
