I picked up an SMC 7004ABR router and had been running fine with loopback somehow for a few days but ran into odd problems of not being able to access the server on my network via WAN IP. Found that my router didn't even support a loopback function and somehow it was working but not anymore. Either way I am going to find a way to sell this router and pick up one else where is possible.

Any suggestions on the best 4 port router (needs loopback), I have read various reviews but reviews don't mean as much to me as peoples experience.

Get a Cisco 5500 and forget that SMC stuff.... :D

But for your question.....I'm kinda confused as to what the problem. Most of those little home-version routers are all setup with NAT so you should be able to specify a port and an ip address and have it forward requests on to your server at that port. Read the DOCs and maybe call their tech support... If it's defective, replace it under their warranty and save your money. ;)
