What is the port in which you'd plug one end of the Ethernet cable into and the the other into the NIC card? Are those specifically called a certain name or just "1" port?

You have One WAN port that goes to the Internet Modem.

Four LAN ports that go to local computers.

LAN ports are Numbered One, Two, Three, and Four.

And as hard as it going to belief it does not matter which one you use to which computer. In the great American Spirit of democracy:thumbsup: all the LAN port are functionally equal. ;):D:beer:

Don't some routers have smart ports or something where they're able to detect if the cable is acting as an uplink? As in, it doesn't matter what ports the cables are plugged into at all. I swear I've either read or heard that somewhere.
