OK... either my router's fubar... or I seriously don't know wtf I'm doing.

I'm currently residing in a college dorm using ethernet connections. I recently bought the EE400-R GigaFast Ethernet Router (cause it was cheap on newegg). I've gotten it so that I can share internet fine with my main comp and my laptop, but I can't seem to get "port opening" features to work. The EE400-R uses virtual server, but whatever port I tell it do open / redirect IP, it doesn't seem to do it. I can't get on Battle.net or even games like Armagetron now. Was wondering if any of you guys had this similar problem with this particular router.

Thanks a bunch

Oh yea, I basically bought the thing so I could have gameplay on one connection (other people in my dorm have tried to help me since they've got their routers to work with 2 machines on 1 college connection both running games etc).

Haven't used that particular router, but have the other people in your dorm who have gotten their routers to work play the same games as you? The college might have blocked access to certain ports. Have you tried placing one of your computers into the DMZ zone to see if that works?

Yes, they have successfully played the games I play using routers.

I tried putting my comp's IP addy on the DMZ zone, but I still can't play any online games. Do you think my router is defective?

What firmware do you run in that router? You may want to check if a newer or older version works better. I recently emailed the 1.93 version to someone that was having issues with the 1.94 version...

Doh! I just sent it back to newegg as RMA (gonna get the netgear router instead).

I didn't even know there was a 1.93 version. On gigafast's site, they only have 1.94 o_O

Oh well, thanks anyway. And if anyone knows of some bug in the Netgear RP614, please tell me so I know what headaches to expect :)
