Router problem? Constant major lag spikes

Ok so heres the deal. I'm playing off of a wireless router, theres about 2 people in my apartment max who use it at a time. For the last few weeks we've been getting interruptions on the internet connection. We'll be working fine, then suddenly the lag will be so bad we cannot even do anything. The only thing that seems to fix it is time or resetting the cable connection.

Then this week it got even worse, the time we could stay online before a major lag spike got a lot shorter. When the lag does hit the internet will be lucky to even display a page anymore.

So any info? 10 cookies to anyone who can tell me whats wrong please! Thanks!
 
1. Try running the internet connection directly to your pc.
2. run some pings and tracerts when the issue is occuring.
3. don't game on wireless.
