Router Or Gateway

Im getting cable here in about 2 weeks, I have set up alot of small house networks before by getting a linksys gateway so they can have wireless and lan with out two boxes. I am looking to buying a gateway but I dont know if that is the right way anymore. I have 3 computers to hook up to a lan. Two ethernet and one usb And the wireless for my laptop. I dont want to spend alot of money but I want the best stuff also. Can u help me out.

WCG200 from Linksys would be the all in 1 unit solution. Never used it, but I have had few problems with their stuff. I'm sure other companies make simliar products.

Just get whatever.

I have a wrt54gs and it ahs been fine.

BTW, gateway is a networking term that is used to describe the outermost piece of equipment on your network. It serves as the gateway to your network, hence the name.
What you are looking for is a router, which takes all those PC and routes them through one public IP.
In addition, having wireless built in means that it has a builtin wireless access point.

So in your case you are looking for a router that has a built in wireless access point, which are readily available at msot any electronics store as "wireless routers."
