router/modem question

hi,

i was wondering if i could hook up two wireless routers at the same time in my house so that i have more range. the setup would look like-

internet>modem>1st router>2nd router

will this work? like will they fight over bandwidth or something?

You can set up one as an access point, yes.
Depending on the model it should be able to do it by default with no firmware flash necessary.

In principle, it would work, and there are two ways to do it.

One, the Routers are connected with a Wire.

This option would work with any Wireless Cable/DSL Router.

The second Router should be configured like this, http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Two, the second Wireless Router connects Wirelessly to the first.

This option needs a second Router that is WDS capable, and thus can connect to the first one Wirelessly (http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Modes.html ).
Using this topology reduces the Wireless ?Speed? past the second Router to half.

Example for such Router, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833162173
