After my PC sets idle for a few hours my DI-614+ seems to lose it's connection to the PC and I have to rehoot the PC to access the internet.

Any ideas why and a solution?

PC is connected to SB4100 cable modem and uses dynamic IPs...

This is annoyign as h3ll!

On your PC, you might have your wireless card shutdown to save power. Go to my computer > properties > hardware > device manager and open the [+] next to network adapters. Double click your wireless card and select the power management tab. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

If that isn't the issue, what do you mean it seems to lose its connection? Whenever you come back to your idle computer, does it say it can't find any wireless networks?

The NIC is not set to shutdown to conserve power. After being idle for a few hours when I return to the PC I am unable to access the internet. I don't know about the network itself persay as it is to share my internet connection only, there are no shared computers or files on the network.

Can you access other machines on the network? Can you ping anything, router, other machines, etc? Can you ping your own address, or 127.0.0.1? We need a little info when the failure happens to know where to look next.

FYI, I have a D-Link DI-614+, and machines sit here idle for a week or more and are sitll connected.
