router keeps dropping aim connection

Okay.. I'm currently on a Linksys router with a built-in 4-port switch (BEFSR41).. I just recently started using it again after my wireless router died.. I have the router hard-wired to 2 computers and it keeps dropping the AIM connection on both of them.. The internet connection is fine because I can be surfing the net when all of a sudden AIM tells me I lost my internet connection.. I can only stay connected to AIM for no more than 10 minutes at a time.. I know it has to be a problem with the router because this wasn't happening when I was using the wireless router (hard-wired).. Any suggestions on what my problem is and/or how to fix it?

I tried that, but for some reason it won't let me connect to Linksys' website. I get this error:

-------------
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/GlobalDBConnection.asp, line 6

I have a similar sounding problem with my smc router and using yahoo-games.
It turned out to be related to chosing Dynamic IP vs. Static IP under the routers wan settings.

To solve it, I first set the wan to use dynamic ip addresses -- got the ip/mask/gateway/dns info -- then used all that info to set up a static ip. No more problem.

I've since updated the firmware, but haven't tested to see if the update fixed that problem.
