Router Issues

I have a cable internet connection and I am trying to use a router to split the connection for two computers. It is wired. I can't get the set up 100% working. I set the domain and whent through the setup on the router and in some computer mags i have. Everything is set to the router specs. The Activity light on both flash but the 10/100 light for the WAN (Modem) is not on. The router and system verify the connection. The 10/100 light for the ports are on and the activity light is flashing in sync with the modem. What is wrong?

When you say you "set the domain" what domain are you referring to? Do you have a static IP from your ISP?

How are your client machines getting IP addresses?

your connections should look like this: cable modem --> Router(wan port) --> workstations. if you are not getting a link light on your routers wan port than it sounds like you have a bad port on your router, bad ethernet cable(should be a crossover cable) or a bad cable modem. you will have to power cycle the cable modem so it can give your router an ip address. good luck
