So - you can see what my problem was earlier - http://forums.anandtech.com/me...id=36&threadid=2240040

Fardingle's post is the current system I am under. However, I set up MAC address filtering so that just me and my roommate could get on the wirless (along with a password). However, I wanted to add one or two to that. However, when I try to go to 192.168.1.1 or routerlogin.net, etc. etc. I don't get anything. Do I need to reset my router or what?

Thanks

Yeah, there was one thing left out of those instructions. Before you disable DHCP and connect the router back to your network, assign an IP to it. The default one won't work because that one belongs to your regular router now. I use something way out of the DHCP pool like .151 (the 'bacardi' address:p )
Resetting it is really the only way to get back in now. After you do that I also suggest taping the address and settings to the bottom of it in case you forget.

and theres no way to know that ip address of the router without actually resetting? I feel like this should come up on my mac when i go to network settings and see the IP, the MAC, the subnet mask, etc. etc.

OK, I went back and read your post again. My bad for not understanding it all.
1) you don't "own" the upstream router. You are not on the proper class C network to configure the device. To get in you need manually assign your computer an address on the 192.168.0. or .1. network.
2) now you should be able to get to the router. After configuring it, go back and set your computer to 'automatically get an address' via DHCP.
