Router Issue - Only one computer connects

I am in desperate need of some assistance here. I have tried so many different things that I just don't know what to do anymore. I have a network consisting of a Linksys WRT54GL wireless-wired router that is connected to three PCs and as of right now, the two XP machines get no internet and the Vista one only can connect to AIM.

I am typing this from my laptop, which is the only computer that will work on a wired connection to the router, it works on all ports and with all of my wires.

The wireless connection also only works on my sister and my iPod touches, but not this laptop, nor my xp PC with a wifi card, nor my sister's vista Laptop. On the vista machine and my XP machine, I have tried releasing and renewing the IP, it "works" on the vista machine, but it does not go through on my XP one. I looked around and found the AIM-only problem seems to be fixed by resetting the TCP/IP and winsock, I did this on the vista machine but it has not fixed the problem.

If anyone can help, please let me know what you need. I can run you ipconfigs as soon as I get back from dinner where I am going right now, but just wanted to get some preliminary thoughts.

NOTE: we got a new router because our cable network guy came out and said it was bad, he gave us a new cable modem just in case, but i don't think either were the problem. The vista started having trouble with itunes not being able to connect to the internet, then i upgraded to ff3 and nothing could connect to the internet except for AIM. This was pre-new router. Now Ff3 will not even start, and IE won't load any pages regardless.

Thank you!

Please list the brand/model of the current cable modem. Also, are you still using the Linksys router, then?

Also, it wouldn't hurt to list the IPCONFIG /ALL result from a working and non-working machines. Thanks.

We are currently still using the linksys router. I attempted to use the old router last night and nothing functioned at all. The cable modem is a: Ambit U10C018.

Here is another ipconfig of my windows xp pro desktop that is actually working some of the time, over a ethernet-through-powerline adapter (out of range of wireless). To be more specific, it will load one webpage every minute or so, indicating there is some kind of connection to the internet but it can barely get enough packets through to load even the router admin page.

Seems to me that your Wireless is Not configured correctly.

Did you try to disable the security?

When I posted those, there was no security on it. A weird thing though, I disabled the wireless altogether and now my xp-pro machine is working just fine through the ethernet-power line adapter.

Edit: None of these computers are trying to connect through wifi, however. I can get an ipconfig of a laptop primarily trying to connect through that if you'd like though (sister's laptop - not working either).

At a quick glance (it's too early in the morning), the NIC settings look correct and are all the same.

Can you doublecheck the Device Manager properties of each of the NICs, making sure that the "Speed and Duplex" settinga are all set on "Auto Negotiation"? it's in the "Advanced" settings for your NIC in the "Network Adapters" part of the Device Manager.

The name will depend on the NIC. On an Intel NIC, it's called "Connection Type", and you'd choose "AutoSense". Go down the list of "Advanced" NIC properties in Device Manager and look for a Property that includes options like "100BaseTx", "AutoSense", "10BaseT Full Duplex", "100BaseT Full Duplex", etc.

The reason I mention it is that "partial connectivity" is one symptom of a Speed/Duplexing mismatch. Some swtiches/routers can handle manual settings, while others choke.

The vista computer is and was on auto negotiation, but still no connection other than AIM. My family is going to kill me if this doesn't get fixed soon... I am just considering reinstalling windows =\ The other xp machine that is directly wired to the router is exhibiting the same thing, but when I try to renew or release the IP it says the device cannot be contacted.
