Router Issue and Recomendation

OK, here's my situation - I have a Linksys router router with integrated Vonage phone port that is having problem for the last few months. I hangs intermitently and nothing works, wireless, wired and Phone everything ceases to work. I have to reset the router to get it to work again. I have to reset it almost every morning. Also happens a lot when I run my desktop which has a wireless card (as its at the other end of the house), happens mostly when I play online games or run P2Ps. I have tired several different setting and nothing fixes the problem and since it hangs over night when none of the computers are connected - I feel its time to move on...
My plan is to buy a new router and cascade/bridge the old one from it since I still need it for Vonage

And that brings me to the next part, What router should I buy. I have used Netgear and D-Link years back and never had good luck with them although I see lot of ppl on this board rooting for Netgear. I am still biased towards Linksys but heard a lot of bad things about the new sleek ones (WRT54G2) If I want to got for Linksys should I stay with old school (WRT54GL)?
I hear a lot of good things about buffalo but will it be compatible with Linksys, will I be able to cascade/bridge my old Linksys from the new buffalo? If yes, which one should I go for? Linksys or Buffalo?
