Router Internet connectivity help

Ok,
I just moved apartments over the weekend and I went from DSL to cable internet. I managed to get my cable internet working with my router (Linksys WRT54G I think) fine when my laptop is plugged in to the back of the router. However, If I try to connect to that same router wirelessly I get 0 internet connectivity. Only when it's plugged can I surf the net. Normally this wouldn't be a problem as I would just leave it in, but the new apartment complex only has 2 coax outs in the living room and I have my desk setup in my bedroom. Is there anything I need to do to get it working? I was fine in my old apartment, but things didn't work the same upon moving. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm at work right now and I don't get home until 5 so anything suggested I'll have to wait until I get home to implement.

First, you can uise a high quality digital capable
bidirectional splitter on the TV cable where it comes
in. Send one output to Cable Modem. Other to your
tevlesion cable box.

As to the wireless, check the router config to be sure
it is Enabled. You may also need to try another Wireless
Channel number. Did you install the Antenna on the Router ? ?
On your laptop, did you give it the same Name (SSID) as what
your wireless network is Named in the Router ? Did you enter
the correct password for WEP / WPA on your laptop ? ?
Is the Antenna on the laptop turned ON ? ? Same for the WIFI
card. Is it Enableed ? ? ?

Do you connect to the wireless signal?
Assuming yes, do you get an IP Address?

If yes, then internet should work. If not, you might be blocking the internet for some reason.
If No, then it's your wireless and not your internet....

I haven't checked to see if I am getting an IP from the router so I will do that. I can connect to the router wirelessly no problem. It's just that I can't surf when I am connected. I can only surf when I am connect to the router directly via the internal NIC. It feels like it's some sort of block but I am not sure. I know the wireless signal is enabled from the fact I can connect to it, I just can't surf when I unplug the NIC and turn on the wireless.

Everything worked fine in my previous apt. had antenna's installed and everything. It's automatically logging on with my key I gave it so the log on isn't an issue. The wireless card is turned on and everything is enabled
