Router for Cafe, recommendations and more

I'm in the "putting together" stage of an Internet Cafe.
We'll probably start with 7 to 10 terminals with 1 server.
The terminals will be hardwired but I want to have wireless ready also.
What would be a good router for this setup?

I also plan on doing LAN parties and was wondering if I should use 100 or 1000 speed for it?

Thanks,

You'll be able to get by with 100mbps without issue. I owned and operated a cybercafe for 18 months before selling - let me know if you need any info 🙂

ZyXel. I tried linksys, and netgear and zyxel and zyxel is way out of their league. Especially for the type of real-deal stuff you will want in a cafe.

Go to zyxel website and pick a nice one, and download the instruction manual. You should be impressed. Then go to broadbandreports.com and chat it up on the forums. They know all about the various models there.

i would suggest Orinoco AP600 from Proxim. It will cost about $600.00 but i think it will be worth it. They are enterprise grade AP's so all the security and management features are there. As far as the lan party i would get a CISCO 2900 series switch off of ebay. those are pretty solid switches and you could get one pretty cheap.

well I'd go Imagestream transport with Dual T1 feed (make sure each T1 is a different company that way if one drops you still have net access) the Transports are small free software upgrades and warrented for wirespeed. besides they use Linus iptables the tricks and rules are awesome for controling bandwith use.

Well, for now I'm just going to go with cable connection, the highest speed I can get from camcast, just to see how things pan out before I invest in T1 service.
I was thinking of going with this Cisco Router, and run a 12 port switch to it.
