Router firewall Vpn recommendations

Sever at corporate office. Two stores remoting in or VPN for POS . Two computers at one store, three at the other. Meeting with a couple of Network people next week but would like to be somewhat prepared so I have a basic understanding of what we need and what products are relatively easy to use.
 
Do you need added security features such as IDS, IPS, DPI, antivirus, content filtration, etc? What kind of encrypted VPN throughput is needed? Interoperability with any existing network appliances?
