Router Failures

I bought a D-Link 604 recentlyand whenever i'm have popular files queued up on Emule, I loose my connection due to "Network hardware failure". I was wondering whether the cause of this problem is a defect in the router or is it due to Emule. I called the customer service guy and he told me it couldn't be but i think otherwise. Is there any (and i mean ANY as in even the most remote possibilities) way Emule could cause the router to collapse. Thanks for your time guys.

as far as the router is concerned a packet is a packet. wether it be emule or quake3 however if emule is sending courrpt packets maybe the router firmware cant handle malformed or corrupt packets. does any other application ever casue this problem?
