Router drops internet connection!

My netgear MR314 drops internet connection or lags alot frequently. I am still connected to the router because i can access the web configuration it is just the internet in general i can't access. I will just be surfing the web then it will drop the only way to get it to work again is to reboot the router. Could enabling a DMZ server do this? I am running the latest firmware. I have 1 wireless and 1 wired connection both running XP pro and they both have this same effect! What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

Try updating the firmware for the router...

I know I did this for my router when it kept acting stupid and dropping my connection (was a linksys but still)

Try it out and see what happens!

Somewhere in setup there should be an option for the router to send a keep alive message to the dns server. You can usually set how often this is done by the router, usually about every 5 minutes. Try that.
