I just got sbc also and followed these instructions from the sbc/ameritech forums over at

Be sure to have your log in info and enter the complete thing i.e. *username*@sbcglobal.net
if you don't have that go here

and set one up once you have that and set it up in the router you will be able to log on.one mention about the reg link is, after a certain page, it just goes to a blank page and says done in the lower left?!?! as long as you set up the user name you should be good.btw for linksys it was 192.168.1.1 and enter admin as password

"This is all you need, no DNS, no nothing.
1) Shut your computer down
2) Plug your Ethernet cable from your modem into the "Wan" port on the BEFSR41
3) Using a "Straight Through" Ethernet cable plug that into your computer's Ethernet card and into the any one of the "1" through "4" Ethernet ports on the BEFSR41
4) Make sure your modem and BEFSR41 are plugged in and powered on
5) Boot up your computer
6) Make sure that your Ethernet card is using DHCP
7) Launch your web browser
8) In the navigation bar type: "http://192.168.1.1" then hit "Enter" on your keyboard
9) Leave the "User Name" field blank and type "admin" as "Password" then click "OK"
10) Check off "Enable" beside the "PPPoE" header. Enter your "User Name" (for your user name make sure you include your ISP's domain as part of it. I.E.: for Verizon it would be
userid@verizon.net) and "Password" as supplied by your ISP. Check off "Enable" under "Connect on Demand" Then click on "Apply"
11) Reboot your computer
12) Surf Away!
