So my 2wire 2700hG seems like its fuct, it flashes red few times day and has to reset it self, i Have to use wireless and have to decide. Should i take a old linksys54g router out of my garage and use that with regular modem for dsl, get another 2wire modem / router or get a better router with usb plug that i always wanted. If i get the usb router which one should i get? Im thinking the asus open sourse one

any better choices? i wouldnt mind wireless N but have alot of pcie wireless G adapters already in pc's

also any idea why the current modem is dieing / reconnecting? i checked the filter andonly use one phone jack in the house.

A lot of people also recommend the buffalo wireless g router. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ogy-_-33162134

It has a higher power wireless for longer range etc. The asus that you showed has more ram for torrents, but normal wireless performance. Just noticed you wanted a usb port, the buffalo does not have one.

Both are reliable. The asus costs less though.

You could use the WRT54g too. It is/was a very popular router and can usually be flashed to open source firmware like the ASUS. Try that to see if it works with a regular modem to single out the problem to be the 2wire gateway.

Also you said you wouldn't mind going wireless n, but have wireless g cards in your PCs. Wireless n and g are compatible. You can still use wireless g cards with a wireless n router.
