Router Can Replace Firewall S/W ?

I have an ASUS A7V with Athlon 1Ghz , 128 MB Memory , ATX Midi case 300 W and 4 yrs old ,Win '98 SE , and 750kbps ADSL line with a cheap router and cheap NIC .
If I enable firewall protection on the router , does this mean I need no firewall software ( Zone Alarm , Sygate etc. ) on the PC ? Are some routers better than others in this respect ?
Thanks .

It's important just to have a firewall, hardware or software. Must be properly configured in either case of course. Linksys is pretty good router, Watchguard SOHO for dedicated hardware firewall good too.

there's a widfe range here from linksys to cisco and Imagestream. Depends on what you want to spend, I got an imagestream rebel for $2K but it will expand to OC3 if SBC ever gets commited to fiber to the home, I'm ready! (yeah overkill but fun)

on my desktop, I enabled firewall/nat on the router and also installed zonealarm pro suite v5..my rig is very safe from you guys 🙂
