Router & built in Switch vs Router plus Switch (is there a difference?)

I have found that buying a router and an 8 port switch separately is over $30 cheaper than buying a router with a built in 8 port switch. Is there a differnce in performance? Are there any other issues to consider? I would think not, but I just wanted to get your oppinions first. They are all Linksys products. -Thanks.

I dont think there would be much of a difference, provided that the switch you are planning to buy have the same features as the one built-in to the router... Especially in a home network setting, you won't notice any difference between the two...
