Router - AV transmitter interference

I have a 2.4hz router and just bought an AV transmitter/receiver pair that also works in the 2.4Ghz range. When I turn on the transmitter it kills my connection to the router. Since the purpose of the AV transmitter is to stream audio from Soundcloud and other internet sources to my stereo I need both to operate at the same time. I tried re-positioning the antenna, even moving the transmitter across the room to no avail. Other than returning the transmitter and getting a 5.8Ghz model, any suggestions?

If possible, change the channels on the transmitter and router so they don't conflict with each other.

are you running custom firmware on the router? change to a direerent region and pick a channel that is not the same as the av transmitter. the frequency should be in the transmitter manual.

personally I would return the av transmitter and switch to hdmi over ethernet extender.

I ran through all the channels and found a couple that work. All the channels degrade router performance but with those two channels the degraded wifi is still faster than the DSL so there is no real world performance hit on the connection. Most of the channels completely wipe out the wifi signal.

I wonder what I'm doing to my neighbors' wifi? :whiste:

Worst comes to worst, I can always run ethernet from the router to PC.

I'm only using it for audio so I'd have to rig up mini jack => hdmi => ethernet => RCA. There is an SPDIF output I guess I could think about. The stereo is at the far end of the house and wiring this house is a pain as there is no attic, no basement, and masonry outer walls (typical southwest construction circa 1965).

The drill out to outer wall and run a wire conduit, and run 2 network runs. Terminate in jacks then make 2 RJ45 to RCA hack job :awe:

A previous owner wanted more phone jacks than God had ordained so there are phone lines running under the eves. He also wanted TV in two rooms at far ends of the house so there were two runs of big ass coax for the roof mounted antenna under the eves as well. At one point, I tried re-purposing the coax as speaker wire but there were only two conductors and I needed four. :biggrin: I eventually pulled the coax out when we had the house painted. I also ran temporary ethernet under the eves for the hummingbird nest cam so I guess this house has a long, rich history of half-assed wiring.
