Router and 3 connections

I have 2 computers and Xbox Live hooked up to my modem with a Zonet router. Its a wired connection. For the Xbox to have internet, I have to turn it on, reset the router, and it works. The problem is, when I do that, one of the computers doesn't get internet.

Suggestions?

Make sure your router is set to give out more than two IP addresses. Also, does your xbox have an IP that the router gave? Or an IP from your ISP(public IP). Sounds like your zonet router is giving only 2 LAN ip's first come first server. Also, if your router is set to for DHCP make sure none of your PC's are set with a static IP address. Maybe JackMDS will come in here with links to his guides. If your not familiar with any networking terms.

It sounds to me like the router is acting like a switch or a hub. Many broadband companies hand out 2 ip addresses per connection and you may just be getting those.

On a Windows XP machine go to the run command and type:
cmd <enter>
then type into the command promt
ipconfig <enter>

If your ip address is out of the following ranges then I am right.
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

If I am right re-check your connections on the back of the router to be sure the internet (from the wall or modem) is going into the uplink port.

If I am wrong then the I would look at the router settings.

Hope that helps.

Its all hooked up right, and the router doesn't recognize the xbox unless the xbox is on, when the router is reset.

In the router settings, this is the current settings. Would putting in the 'other IP' and 'subnet mask' help any? If so, what should I enter?

In that menu I would select the radio button for the class C address. I have never seen that interface before, but I imagine there are more options if you hit next.

It would really help to know the IP address of at least one of your computers.
