Router/ADSL questions

I'm looking at getting broadband from my current ISP.

They have two options:

£100 for a setup with an internal PCI adsl jobba

or

£130 for a setup with a router jobba

given that my 2 PCs already have network cards and a crossover cable, is there any point in getting the router, or will using my existing network and a single PCI adsl jobba be functionally identical, i.e. both computers able to surf the web together?

if you get the router setup,
1. you will have a built in firewall and network address translation.
2. you can be connected with either computer, whether or not both computers are on.
3. you have expansion capability if you ever need to get another computer (lika a friends) up on the net at your place.

i'd go for the router, i've got one and wouldnt change for any other solution right now.

now the question is whether to get a wireless capable router just in case you get a laptop....
wireless routers (3 wire ports and wireless capability) are ~$120 around here (us, california)
good luck
