Boiling water works well if you want to kill pretty much anything, but without contaminating the soil. When I get desperate I will use Weed Be Gone which is safer than glyphosate I think... but also won't kill the lawn, but I try to avoid chemicals as best as I can. When I do use it I only do the front lawn just so I don't start getting complaints. For stuff growing in driveway cracks or similar situations where I just want to kill all vegetation, I use boiling water.

Weed Be Gone's active ingredients are : Quinclorac, 2, 4-D, and Dicamba
  • Quinclorac LD50 (oral; rats): >3500 mg/kg
  • Quinclorac LD50 (dermal; rabbits): >2 g/kg
  • 2,4-D LD50 (oral; rats): between 639 mg/kg and 1646 mg/kg (depending on form tested)
  • 2,4-D LD50 (dermal; rabbits): from 1829 mg/kg to >2000 mg/kg
  • Dicamba LD50 (oral; rats): 757 mg/kg to 2560 mg/kg (depending on grade)
  • Dicamba LD50 (dermal; rabbits): >2 g/kg

Glyphosate:
  • LD50 (oral; rats): >4300 mg/kg
  • LD50 (dermal; rabbits): >2 g/kg

For comparison to an everyday item people regularly consume: caffeine has an LD50 in rats of ~192 mg/kg. Seems like of the weed killer products are fine if you don't drink or bathe in them. Glyophsate gets a bad rap because of, shall we say, misguided environmental activists who have been misled by Big Organic and their agents.

If you live remotely close to Ohio just wait until the vinyl chloride fallout from the train explosion hits your area, and weeds will be the least of your concerns. ;) But they'll also die so you'll be all good.
Never been to Ohio but have met some great people who left there. I think it says more for them (people who left Ohio and moved to California) than it does for Ohioans in general, TBH.

Nonsense. Ohio doesn't REALLY exist...it's something that parents use to scare mis-behaving children.
"Johnny, you'd better behave or the government is going to send you to OHIO!"

It exists because no other place could have created American football. And without American football, there is not Janet Jackson boobie slip. And without Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction, there would be no Youtube.

So, Ohio created Youtube(indirectly).

Something else against them.

I've visited before a few times and passed through MANY times and why anyone would CHOOSE to move to (or stay in once there!) Ohio is beyond me sorry.

Having said that, all kidding aside the VAST majority of people I've met everywhere I've been in the US have been kind and decent. (even Texas and Floriduh lol)

;)

One of the most logical things I have read on this site thus far this year.

Florida is more diverse than its political history implies. It reels in (often rich) transplants due to its taxation structure and cheaper housing.

Cities in general are more diverse and home to a variety of people.

As for moving to Ohio, work is probably the only compelling reason I can see. One UMD graduate was living there because he worked there. His mother rented a room from my mother but I wouldn't call his mother a friend of my mom. The only reason his mom contacted us was because he probably got hit by COVID bad and stopped talking to his mom. So we had to call that local town's police to do a welfare check in April 2020. He's ethnically half-Japanese, with his mother being Chinese but his mom either grew up or at least lived in Japan for most of her life.

The town he was/still is at is real small, only about 8,000 in the population.
