Im sure a lot of you already know this , but for those who dont... there are a few sites on the net that show you how to make your own rounded IDE cables . i used the "how-to guide" at caseetc.com for rounding mine . in less than an hour and a half , using side cutters , some electrical tape and an exacto knife , i rounded my IDE ATA-66 HDD , cd-rom ATA-33 , and floppy cables. i also used some plastic split loom casing to finish them off. what a difference it makes!

wrapping it in the small spiral wrap from radioshack works the best IMHO. easy and very compacted.

ZeroBurn, If I go to Radio Shack and ask for spiral wrap, they'll know what I'm talking about?

yep, just go your your local radioshack and ask for spiral wrap. it'll be a tube with a slit spiraling down, it looks really small and doesn't look like you can get an IDE cable in there- but there's definitely room. this is how i did my ata/66 cables as well. it comes in clear or black, either works fine :)

I just used black electrical tape. Is the spiral wrap like electrical tape?

Wow thanks for the links guys... more reason to go to Radioshack. Gotta pick up the blue leds too. I was just going to use rubberbands or electrical tape, but these wraps don't cost much...

electrical tape works just fine as well, although i don't think it looks as professional as spiral wrap nor is it as easy to remove if you want to for any reason. slitting the cables w/ a razor blade made the job a lot easier, but you don't want to do that with the ata/66 cables- just accordian fold them.

i don't remember what i got, i think it was the 1/2" diameter, but i can't be sure. best bet would be to just go to radioshack and check their selection, i got the smaller diameter of the 2 available at my radioshack (i actually bought the larger one as well, just for my PSU to mobo cable, but it turns out i didn't need it). i wouldn't worry about it, spiral wrap spreads out to accompany larger diameter, so you're going to have some clearance- it'll just be a little harder to wrap around. there's no getting wrong spiral wrap :)

after the spiral-wrap or split-loom material , if you have a black-light in your case there is fluorescent tape available to finish it off , if your into that.
