Rounded IDE Cables...ATA 100 and 66...cheap....

Goto pccables.com, they have a decent selection of rounded (not floppy) cables for around 15$ each. They look good, improve airflow throughout your tower, and are more efficient than "homemade" rounded IDE cables. They are 80 wire, twisted pair to avoid the crosstalk that one cannot escape with modded IDE cables.....they have a limited supply left, go check em out! I got 2 today....

$15 bucks a pop...hmm.

I've rounded all my cables, and they've turned out fine. Many other people have performed this mod and have had no trouble. Just use a utility or exacto knife and slice each eight wires. Wrap with electrical tape when finished.

Yeah, you could cut them, but if $$ is not a problem, id rather have the professional look, plus, homeade cables dont eliminate the crosstalk you have with flat ribbon cables. At ATA 100, id rather trust my system with a true professional job 🙂 Just my 2 cents.

Went there and blew 85$ on all the cool stuff they have. Gotta love the speed screws for your case. Nice place to find those odd items.

been looking for a place like this, I needed to get a switch for my s-video vcr and dvd player to my tv....

Very nice looking...perfect for those who modify their case with windows/viewports to show off the insides....

But for the ultimate rounded cable, wait for serial cables to become popular with IDE drives...sweetness.

Stylewar I couldn't resist the speed screws and thought what the hell I'll get 50 all my buddies will want some. I also bought 3 of the ata100 rounded cables I run a raid setup and my 2 cdroms. Also needed some netwrok cables so there goes some more cheese but hey thats what we make it for to spend hey!!!

A very hot deal can be had on "regular" cables for those in Austin.
The Goodwill computer store sells pullout IDE cables for 23 cents.
They also have 3.5" floppy drives for $5.00, Sound card cables
for $2.00, and CAT5 Ethernet cables (assorted lengths) for $2.50.
Plus, there is always that "garage sale" feeling to the place,
where you might find a one-of-a-kind treasure for very little money.

Hey, I never thought about the Goodwill store. I have a lot of computer junk lying around that I could donate and you never know when I might need to stop by and see what is available for cheap.

the best thing about these cables is not that they are rounded, they are twisted pair cables d00d.

and being round just makes things better =)

edit, i'll splurge and get the 24 inchers though. it's only $2 more.

too bad i can't afford them right now =(

How flexible are these cables inside the case... for those that have tight quarters they look like they are too rigid? ..no?

Wingznut Pez said they are flexible. Search for the thread entitled something like "Wanna see pictures of my case with rounded IDE cables?".
