Rounded IDE cables: another rip-off?

Those rounded IDE cables, what are they good for?

Anyone can take regular cables and just lay them down the case or the walls so that the air resistance is minimal. Also, rounded IDE cables are a lot more difficult to disconnect because you can't pull them by the cable itself - you need to pull them by the connector. So is it worth paying $12 or so per cable?

Numerous reviews have shown no benefit to them assuming the case has proper cooling to begin with. Some people just like the look.

Rounded IDE cables are for those with case windows, and tweaked-out, show-me-to-the-world cases, IMHO.

they make it easier to snake the cables around each other. I had a situation where I needed a 2 foot cable and the closest thing I could find was a 3 footer. It left me with 1 foot of cable just dangling and getting in the way.
