My friend told me that IDE cables longer then 24inch is bad. Im kinda worried since i ordered a 35inch silver braided rounded cable. The 35inch cable will be for my dvd rom and cdr drive.

Will i have troubles with this ide cable?
 
Wow - 35 inches! Are you sure? I've gone to 24, but the spec is 18. I've had no trouble with 18 inchers in full tower cases. I'd try to stay within spec. If you have a problem, you'll spend a lot of time trying to figure out if it's cables.
 
ya i know the 35 inch is over kill but i already ordered it. The company didnt have silver 24 inch cables.
 
I'd expect it to be fine - the rounded cables these days use twisted pairs as the conductors; this helps reduce electrical noise and interference, which should allow for slightly longer cable lengths without problems.
 
Yah I agree, 35 should be OK for cd/dvd drives, but for your HDD.... riskin data loss and corrupted files there :Q :Q :Q

thanks guys, I did e-mail the company asking if maybe i could trade in my 35 for a 24 since the order wasnt shipped yet. But good to know that this cable is going to fine for my roms.

Oh and i got a 18inch rounded cable for my hard drives, so hehe i know thats OK 🙂.
