Roundabouts >> 4 way intersections

Did they assume that people actually know how to use them? If so I think thats a major flaw in their test as most drivers in the US are too stupid to use them appropriately.

Exactly! At a 4 way stop, the morons in the other cars are less likely to run into me. In a roundabout, not so much. Just look at how people drive on the highway. They don't pay attention until the last minute to get over to their exit and then either hold up traffic or cut someone off.

These are very uncommon in my area until about 3 years ago. They put two of them on a major highway in the middle of nowhere. You drop from 55 down to 25 and can barely enter them even at the 25mph.

Better than stopping, but only barely.

sounds like they want you to take them closer to 55

If you watched the video, they sampled 15 Americans, who actually never used them before, but gave them 30 minutes of practice and they still came out ahead.

Unless you want to argue that the people they sampled are way superior than the average. 😵

Never been or seen an actual roundabout, they sound interesting, though I can see it also being hard to get in or out of if there's too much traffic since nobody is letting you in or out and people will beep at you if you stop.

Actually from looking at the video it seems getting out would not be hard, and as long as people get out, it should not be that hard to get in, this is even more true on bigger circles.

I say make more roundabouts, and put wind turbines in the centre. Solve two problems at once!
